When I first had children, I had grand visions of waking up early for family scripture study and having wonderful sit-down lessons and discussions that changed our lives.
In reality...
- I had kids jumping up and down on the couch or doing somersaults on the floor
- I found myself repeating the same principles over and over again, but nothing was sticking
- I was confused why I wasn't sure my children would be able to stand for truth and righteousness on their own even though we were having family scripture study every day
- We were reading through the scriptures and telling the stories, but I didn't know what else to talk about each day

But then one day, we read about Peter walking on water in the New Testament, and we started talking about choosing Faith over Fear.
I realized that my daughter needed to understand this concept on a deeper level. She was letting fear dictate her choices, and I knew she would be happier if she would choose to have faith instead.
I decided to focus on just the ONE topic of choosing faith over fear.
We read more scriptures, we asked questions, we had activities and personal experiences choosing faith over fear.
... and I realized in that moment that scripture study wasn't just to "learn about Jesus"...
... Reading the Bible was meant to CHANGE US.
When I stopped focusing on all the things I was "supposed to learn" and instead focused on using the scriptures as a tool to help my family overcome our personal challenges, miracles started to happen in our lives!
